The most common type is the cat or dog flea. This pest feeds on their host by biting and sucking blood from our pets.
Small infestations may go unnoticed, slowly growing in numbers. As the population grows, people in the home most likely will also experience bites. The flea lives in our homes with eggs, larva most often on or under furniture, in cracks and crevices. Many people will spend more money trying to control this on their own before giving up.
Four stages to the flea: Egg / Larva / Pupal Stage / Flea
It is the Pupal stage that creates the problem. After 14 days, the adult flea emerges from this pupal stage. To gain control, products used must continue control throughout a 21 day period.
However, the necessary products cannot be bought in a pet store or vet clinic. While labels may make those claims, I recommend you save those dollars and call in a professional. I commonly hear the statement, "I've already spent more than that with store bought products."
